Obviously it depends on the day. I recommend layers. There is space to have an extra or dry sweatshirt or windbreaker. ALWAYS bring water. It is easy to get dehydrated while kayaking ( but don't drink before you go or you may have to get rid of that water and can't jump out of the kayak safely lol). I always wear cargo slacks that can dry relatively fast and a protective windbreaker(for too much sun, wind, or getting wet). I also bring sweatbands for my wrists that help if the drip protectors on the oars are not enough. I usually wear a bathing suit under everything just because of the capacity to dry faster should you get wet. The basic rule of thumb is cover some of your legs(3/4 works, and your arms) but light protection on the outer because of sun and water. I like to wear a baseball cap to protect my face from too much sun as well. Also, if that isn't enough information, I go with coconut oil on my face and exposed skin for protection against sun and wind ( or you can go with a sunscreen that is waterproof). I always make sure that in the car afterwards I have a set of dry clothes to change into. You just never know.

you can if there are two people ( don't ever go alone, it's just a safety thing and I don't think they allow that anyway). I would not recommend going off on your own even as a couple, even if you are experienced kayaker, unless you know the currents/tides well and know Broad Creek very well. The way the current runs is very important for how much energy you will end up using (and if it's a hot day, you can easily get too fatigued) and mostly , again, safety. There are a lot of boaters (some high speed boats) that may not always see you or may come by close just to annoy you. Also, Broad Creek is not any place you want to ever step out of your kayak for any reason(even if you are in a foot of what looks like clear water)...the oyster beds are numerous and one little oyster cut can kill you within 40 minutes without medical attention. It happens every year. You don't see the oyster beds under the mud and they have serious toxins. Therefore, should you go out with someone on your own and have an emergency or need help in some way, you might have issues. The very best way to go, even if you have gone before with a group, is to go with the tour. It is affordable enough that should you want to go on two tours due to the time, plan for it and do that. Most of the guides will give you reasonable time though for you to enjoy the most of what Broad Creek has to offer.
