I am considering visiting the gorge in January, I’m a little worried about the journey there from Lijiang. Will the roads be icy and dangerous this time of year! And do any of the roads have steep narrow mountain drops on the journey there? I’m a nervous passenger! Thank you for your help

On my 2nd visit there the road between Qiaotou and Tina's guesthouse was out of service due to a rockfall (not uncommon). This meant luggage could not be forwarded …
On my 2nd visit there the road between Qiaotou and Tina's guesthouse was out of service due to a rockfall (not uncommon). This meant luggage could not be forwarded to Tina's and necessitated a return to Qiaotou either back along the trail or the long way around by road. Fortunately, while considering our options, the road was opened again after a 3 day closure. No scary bends or drops in the road. Nothing really dangerous about the hike either, if you're sensible.
Hi, i am planning to Hutiaoxiao but seems like i cannot really understand the route of the buses leaving from lijiang to hutiaoxiao. Does anyone knows where is the last stop of the bus?... Is it at the upper gorge where the boardwalk is located? or is it at Tina's guesthouse the last stop? Initially we are planning to just walk from upper to Tina's ending at Tibet guesthouse, our stay there. unfortunately the walking may takes up to 7hours. Can we just stay in the bus until it's last stop (maybe Tina's) and walk the rest of the road to Tibet guesthouse?

I will do the tiger leaping Gorge high route tomorrow and the day after tomorrow. Do I need to book a sleeping place halfway the trek in advance? How do I book a bus back to lijiang from the end of the trail? Is there always room on the busses back to lijiang?

We actually hired a private driver from Lijiang to Shangri-la for RMB1,800 - I believe that is above average rate since we hired through the hotel - and stopped by Tiger Leaping Gorge …
