I think it depends on how thorough you want to be in terms of reading everything available to be read. We went with another couple, and we were there over 2 hours on an uncrowded day without taking in every last detail. I would say 3-4 hours if you are a Patriots fan who is really interested in all the history, etc., and that does not include shopping in the gift shop at the end of the visit!
