It's around 3.5 miles from the harbour so although walkable it will take longer than Marnix suggests. We hired bicycles and that made for a nice day out. You get a little leaflet to guide you around which was adequate for us. The Samos Town museum is well worth a visit and easy to get to by bus (nice journey too). We ended up going twice because the Samos Experience tour includes a visit - this included a bit of information as well as time to explore.
