A series of crashes on the Southwest Freeway in Houston left one person dead and three injured. Police say three vehicles were involved. The roadway has reopened after being shut down for hours.

WHARTON COUNTY, Texas — A section of US 59/Interstate 69 was closed northbound Wednesday night after a large pothole formed in the freeway. Both northbound lanes were closed just south of FM 1161.
