An unauthorized fence that sparked an international investigation after it was erected in B.C. along the U.S.-Canada border has been taken down, according to police.
Update — Jan. 30, 2025: The Delta police department said the fence was taken down Thursday morning after the police chief and city manager met and concluded that it should be removed.
"Specifically, I felt that this type of fence, barrier, wall (whatever you want to call it) did not symbolize the trust that our two countries have shared for decades." ...
"The timing of it is so ironic," immigration lawyer Len Saunders said. "My immediate reaction was 'This is (Donald) Trump ... but it's the Canadians doing it." ...
