High winds and scattered thunderstorms swept through the south suburbs Sunday, leaving several without power and some damage.

and the city is divided by the Chicago River into three geographic sections: the North Side, the South Side and the West Side. These sections surround the city's compact downtown area – the Loop.

The Chicago area could see strong-to-severe thunderstorms on Sunday, with isolated tornadoes and damaging winds possible.

The National Weather Service has confirmed the presence of six tornadoes throughout the south suburbs and parts of Indiana.
