Aurora chasers are on high alert for geomagnetic storm conditions overnight with northern lights possible at mid-latitudes.

The geo magnetic storm is caused when the sun ejects charged particles from it’s corona. Earth’s magnetic field directs the particles to the north and south poles, according to Space.com.
