The Army has no plans to retire the CH-47 Chinook—which, in multiple respects, outdoes every other helicopter in the U.S.

Plans are in place to study a replacement for the Chinook, but expect that process to take years—meaning that the Chinook will remain the Army’s largest and fastest helicopter for years to come.
