Japanese weather officials say airborne yellow sand from China's desert regions is being observed across Japan. Meteorological Agency officials have constantly been observing the skies visually.

Cities throughout Japan continued to see yellow sand in the air on Wednesday, with the weather agency predicting the phenomenon to last through Thursday morning, having started on Tuesday.

Yellow sand is fine dust particles churned up by strong winds from deserts on China’s mainland. In some areas of China, yellow sand reduced visibility to less than 2 km on the morning of April 11.
