WASHINGTON, N.C. (WITN) - Tombstones, some over 100 years old can be seen broken into pieces, with one completely uprooted from the ground at the Asbury Methodist Church Cemetery in Washington.
Residents of the historic African Nova Scotian community of Beechville are planning work to revitalize the local cemetery after being awarded a grant from the Halifax Regional Municipality.
Tucked between a residential neighborhood and what was once an old church is a cemetery that's been neglected for years.
