Tailless whip scorpions, also known as whip spiders, belong to the order Amblypygi and have over 200 species. The name Amblypygi actually means “blunt rump” in reference to their lack of a tail.
They are often confused with tailless whip scorpions or true camel spiders, but sun spiders can be identified by their massive, forward-facing jaws, which make up about one-third of their body size.
