The leaders of both Canada and Mexico got on the phone with the president to seek solutions - but China appears unlikely to make a similar call soon

China's commerce minister says Beijing will not yield to bullying and its economy can weather tariffs and other challenges, though there are “no winners in a trade war."

On Tuesday, the U.S. doubled its tariffs on Chinese imports to 20 percent. China in return imposed additional 15 percent duties on American goods.

President Trump has not mentioned the possibility of rolling back the increased tariffs on imports from China as he issued pauses on some tariffs from Mexico and China. China's foreign minister has vowed to "resolutely counter" U.
