The next phase of plans to improve Darlington’s water supply by building a new water pipeline has been approved.

The elusive bittern, known for its expert camouflage and deep, booming call, was spotted gliding gracefully over a County Durham nature reserve.

The Under 16s Girls Netball team from Hummersknott Academy, in Darlington, will compete in the 2025 National Schools Finals.
