Man Utd have been operating at a loss for years and are staring another season without Champions League football in the face as they languish 15th in the Premier League. A lack of success on the pitch has seen Man Utd miss out on vital commercial and sporting revenues and new co-owners INEOS have implemented draconian austerity measures to cut costs.

Manchester United are to cut up to 200 further jobs as part of a strategy they claim will transform the club into a more lean operation. Having made 250 staff redundant last summer, United confirmed on Monday that there would be further job reductions of between 150 and 200 employees.

Staff were given the bad news during a meeting in the Manchester Suite at Old Trafford on Monday afternoon by chief executive Omar Berrada and chief operating officer Collette Roche.

The new cuts come 12 months after Manchester United's last round of job losses and will impact all areas of the club, with INEOS determined to reduce the size of the workforce
