Williams, a Southern University student, died after reportedly being punched repeatedly in the chest. Three people have turned themselves in.

Three people have been arrested, one on manslaughter charges, in the death last month of a 20-year-old student at Southern University and A&M College. Authorities say Caleb Wilson died after being punched in the chest during a fraternity hazing ritual at an off-campus warehouse.

Prominent Palestinian activist Mahmoud Khalil will remain in an ICE detention facility in Louisiana for now following a procedural hearing in New York, days after he was arrested by federal officials at his Columbia University residence in an attempt by the Trump administration to deport him.

Mahmoud Khalil, a Palestinian activist and legal permanent resident, remains detained inside the Central Louisiana ICE Processing Center in Jena. Federal immigration authorities apprehended Khalil at a university residence following his participation in a Gaza solidarity encampment organized by Columbia University students in 2024.
