The Worcester City Council voted to pass a resolution to become a sanctuary city for people who identify as transgender.

The legally non-binding resolution recognizes the necessity of access to transgender health care and pledges not to collaborate with federal or out-of-state authorities that try to diminish those rights.

The proposed resolution declares that the city won’t cooperate with the federal government on “policies aimed to harm transgender and gender diverse people.”
