Sir Keir Starmer has scrambled together a package of economic concessions as the Prime Minister looks to persuade Donald Trump to spare the UK from his imminent trade war. Trump is just hours away from introducing his so-called "Liberation Day" tariffs in a move which will leave markets reeling and consumers taking a significant hit.

Donald Trump was briefed by Sir Keir Starmer on the arrest of three people the US president called “terrorists” over alleged vandalism at his Turnberry golf resort in Scotland.

Sir Keir Starmer was accused of being “supine” to Donald Trump by not threatening to retaliate against US tariffs being imposed on the UK.Former M&S boss Lord Rose also claimed that the Government was “sitting there with our little begging bowl” and hoping the US president will “be nice” to the UK because of his links to the country.
