Strong wind gusts blew through the Port City on Fat Tuesday in the middle of Mardi Gras festivities. Winds became stronger as the day went on, and some parades’ start times were moved up to avoid potentially severe weather.

The Krewe of Rex parade route has changed due to incoming severe weather and high winds, the New Orleans Police Department announced early Tuesday. Rex will roll at 9:30 from its traditional start location at Napoleon and Claiborne avenues. The krewe will travel down St. Charles Avenue to Calliope Street. The procession will end there.

The shooter pleaded guilty to all 21 counts of first-degree murder and 48 counts of attempted murder. He was accused of killing seven people and wounding dozens more at Highland Park's Fourth of July parade in 2022.
