2020年6月8日 · The tank will look like new with the water in the tank. If you buff it empty you can use the polishing compound and it will be as good as new even when empty. I did my tank when it was full, also at the time it was fresh water. I saw no I'll effects from the acrylic dust on the fish.

2017年3月14日 · I built mine out of 1/2" cell cast acrylic. When in doubt, always go thicker. There are great acrylic thickness calculators out there to determine what you need. My tank is 24"x19"x18" deep. I used Weldon #4 and Weldon #16. Smooth edges after sawing is a must. I hand sanded all my edges before welding. The smoother the better.

2020年8月31日 · Yes, really nice equipment with bowing tank, not so good!!! I have a 4 footer(48”x24”x20”) acrylic with 3/4” all around and 3” Euro-brace. And you are going for the 6 footer, I would be concern a year or two later if not adding an Euro-brace.

2009年11月24日 · This is a very good calculator for estimating as it has a higher safety factor for those that are unfamiliar in working with acrylic. Keep in mind, you would want to use cell-cast acrylic in your build. Are you wanting to build a completely acrylic tank or are you thinking of building a plywood tank.

2019年12月10日 · Yes, I think reducing the height of the tank to 24" or 26" would allow me to use thinner acrylic. On the first page @Turbo's Aquatics thread, it says that I can get away with 1/2" acrylic on a tank up to 24" tall as long as it has proper Euro Bracing. So I may do that, or I may do a 26-28" tall tank with 3/4" acrylic and Euro Bracing.

2014年6月3日 · Dang ur tank came out clear! I buffed my tank and sanded... it didn't come out that clear .... what's the secret I used plastix polish and started with 800 grit then 1000 then 1500 and then polished with a buffing wheel and that megures plastx or whatever it's called and still a little hazy you can see the side panel.

2010年10月13日 · Now, I will put a disclaimer on this. There have been many tanks that have been built using thinner acrylic that what is listed on the calculators. For example, I have a 96 x 24 x 30 300G tank that is made from 1/2" acrylic, but the calculator says you need 1.11.
