2024年7月17日 · Linux is different, in Linux every component is a different project, the kernel (linux itself), the init system (systemd, openrc, runit...), the package manager (portage, xbps, apt, dnf....), the boot manager (grub, lilo, systemd-boot). In BSD everything is under the same source tree which makes easier to understand how the system works.

2021年11月30日 · tgl: I have Devuan Daedalus, Ubuntu Linux distros along with FreeBSD in my 1SSD+1HDD Desktop system. IMO, there is no priority when installing Linux/BSDs unlike when you have Windows OS in the multi-booting list. In my PC, the EFI partition is in SSD and FreeBSD-root & FreeBSD /home partitions in Hard drive.

2013年6月30日 · Given the GPL, I would assume that zero lines of code have been copied from Linux to the various *BSD kernels. Given the Berkeley license, it would probably be possible to copy code from *BSD to Linux. I vaguely remember early on in Linux land (somewhere around version 0.99 or 1.0), there was a BSD copyright notice on Linux.

2009年1月30日 · BSD is a business class by design, linux is economy en masse much more like fragmented breadboard for everything and every device rather than a complete product or solution. The question is did u like quality and real performance and usability or flaky code. Yes u can use both systems but linux don't stop sux if someone pay you for working on it.

2020年6月7日 · 5) After completing installation, to be able to choose what OS to boot you'll need to either install rEFInd boot manager, or use GRUB (assuming the other OS is a Linux distro). I personally recommend rEFInd, but I won't detail how to install it here. Neither will I explain how to alter the GRUB config.

2017年4月4日 · I have a new Dell Inspiron 15 3000 with Debian Linux. I've done some research with mixed results. I currently have Debian installed but I'd like to dual boot. I normally do my partitioning with gparted live but read that it won't work with BSD. I have and old IBM Thinkpad that I installed FreeBSD on but my wifi wasn't compatible.
