2012年11月24日 · I was induced with Cervidil at 8:45am on a Friday morning and was only 1cm dilated when I went in. Within 4 hours the contractions were quite strong. Around 3pm-4pm, I was 4-5cm dilated and they took the Cervidil out and broke my water. I continued to dilate on my own and did not need Pitocin. I delivered Friday night at 7:06pm.

One of the problems with Cytotec is that once it's in, there's no turning back. With Cervidil, they can pull in back out if you hyperstimulate. With pitocin they can turn down the drip. With Cytotec, once it's in, it's in and if something goes wrong there is nothing they can do except let it ride out it's course. That, to me, is scary.

The cervidil sent me into having terrible contractions (back labor) after just one hour. The pain was extremely intense, with 4 to 5 contractions on top of each other lasting 5 minutes long, with only 30 second breaks in between.

I thought it also hurt a lot when they put the cervidil in. But I thought all of my internals hurt too, this was worse though. I got mine around 9:30 pm and it sent me into labor by 3 am. I was already 2 cm dilated and 90% effaced before they started cervidil.

2011年3月29日 · Bahahaha I thought this said "can you eat cervidil" I was about to say something clever like "if your husband wants your throat to be softened!" llllmmaoooo. I am going in at 6:30 am on Monday, they didn't say if I could eat or not so I was planning on eating a good breakfast because I wasn't sure if I'd be able to eat again throughout the rest ...

Sunday night I was given cervidil. 30 min later I and baby had a bad reaction to it. They took it out and waited another 3 hrs to try it again. Went again w/ no issues this time! Got it out at 530 Monday morning. Started pit at 540. Got epi at 750. Got balloon at 8. Was a 5 at 3, stayed that way for 2 hrs. Ended up with c section.

This is how it went for me: Thursday at 11pm, Cervidil was inserted. 2am woke up in pain, nurse offered me tylenol, I asked for the whole bottle. Excruciating pain until 11am when they removed it and switched to Pitocin, fingertip dialated. 8pm another round of cervidil, this lasted about 20 minutes begged to have it removed.

I was not offered a sleeping pill when I had cervidil with DS. I wish they had, because I had already been in labor 24 hours when they started the cervidil and it was another 16 before I delivered him. I could have used the sleep. We will be attempting a cervidil only induction this Tuesday, so I may ask about it this time.

She started me at 2pm on the cervidil and then came in around midnight and started the pitocin. My labor was excruciating by 7am and had my epidural. By 11:30 baby's heartrate wasnt regulating and I hadnt dialated past 5cm so she took me in for C-section.

Cervidil ripens the cervix. It is not like pitocin and does not bring on contractions. They are two very different medicines. If you are already dilated, you do not receive Cervidil. If you are contracting and progressing- maybe only low dose Pitocin is necessary. It depends on your body and it's preparedness really.
