2022年1月31日 · The Case (or Box), that houses all the Components, will ONLY accommodate a 8940 Motherboard - a non-Dell Motherboard will NOT fit! Similarly, the Dell 8940 Motherboard will NOT fit into a non-Dell Case. The Power Supply Unit (PSU) is also unique to Dell - hence it will NOT fit into another Case, nor will it work with any other non-Dell Motherboard.

2022年11月1日 · When 8940 motherboard dies, good timing to buy non Dell standard ATX mobo w warranty, salvage Dell cpu, ram, cooler. Sell the Dell psu. Get rid of 8940 case. Get a new case. Not worth it to buy a replacement 8940 mobo which is often refurbished. Also not wise to buy a proprietary non ATX board.

2024年2月19日 · There are quite a few incompatibilities between 8940 case and 8960 board. both are proprietary motherboard designed for their designated case, with different front IO design. One board front IO does not fit the other case front opening. furthermore, 8940 board is 12” front to back, 8960 board is almost 17” front to back.

It might physically fit 8940 case since Dell often use same mobo of different bios in different models of same era, for example xps 730x use same mobo as Area 51 R1 but different bios.
