I mentioned the problems I was having in an Amazon review for the vivoactive hr. Garmin replied that the latest software update fixed the issue with calories. I've had an FR 305, a 610, a 230 and an Edge 25, and they all behave the same. The best compromise is to display the current lap pace along with the instantaneous value, and glance often at the 2 values; configurable fields are also probably a good idea (although I'd be interested to know how these deal with the 'turn syndrome' described above).

However I have the 920, 230, 235 and 630 and my VO2 Max on all of them is more or the less same - i.e. within a "point" of each other and of course I am not wearing all 4 watches on every run! So certainly, for me, with the 235 only using optical HR the VO2 Max values are consistent with other devices where am getting HR from a strap.

Dear all, I'm a newbee with my new forerunner 235. Even this new watch is working very well during my running workouts, I 'm not able to get my real distance swimmed when I go to the swimming pool (Exterior). I choose the other activity but my distance is not calculate while GPS is well detected at the begining of the session.

Rec'd a new Garmin 235 at Christmas. A great upgrade from my 310XT. But, the screen display is very dark and I am unable to find any information re increasing screen brightness as I could on my 310XT. Also, viewing several reviews of the 235 online, all screenshots and videos of the 235 appear very bright compared with my 235.
