The big resource is Emily Millers IDWDYD worksheets. People love them. I do not but only because it’s not my style. They’re really good.

2023年2月6日 · Ask the bright students in your class to setup a Chemistry Club and ask their parents for help with snacks, AP study session meals and help funding AP Chemistry study prep books you can keep each year. This will help ensure the students who are interested in doing well on the AP Chem test are able to get additional resources outside of class.

Many state standards no longer prepare kids for AP chem so there's always a huge gap. On them asking questions the AP test focuses on breadth not depth so students have to use a ton of formulas without understanding the actual concepts that makes chemistry work.

Started teaching AP physics 1 with two years experience, added AP chem three years later. Like you I have a degree in chemistry, so adjusting to the material (at least compared to physics) was not that bad, and I didn’t really do anything special to prepare for the course.

2021年8月23日 · The AP Daily Videos on AP Classroom are a godsend. Have your students watch them prior to class, not after. I know Reddit hates it, but Facebook has a bunch of groups for chem. They have a ton of resources. I particularly love Emily Miller's "I Do, We Do, You Do" notes. I used them last year and resulted in an 80% pass rate.

Emily Miller in that group posted some other worksheets called I do We do You do that other people like. But there are always timely questions all year long. A very giving group and one of the only reasons I still have Facebook.

2022年8月12日 · Use actual AP Exam questions in class and on your exams. Scrub them if necessary, but use them - the kids need to get used to the language and approach. KNOW YOUR CONTENT - if you're not REALLY good at chemistry, you're going to have a very challenging year. You have to know chemistry WELL. Realize that AP isn't for every student.
