The Bornean Sun Bear Conservation Centre (BSBCC) is a sun bear rescue and rehabilitation facility being developed in Sabah, Malaysian Borneo. Sun bears are the smallest bears in the world and are only found in Southeast Asia.

The Bornean Sun Bear Conservation Centre (BSBCC) is the only sun bear conservation centre in the world. It was founded in Sabah, Malaysia in 2008 with two aims: to provide care and rehabilitation to rescued sun bears; and. to increase awareness of sun bears internationally.

2024年10月12日 · The Bornean Sun Bear Conservation Centre (BSBCC) takes in rescued sun bears that were held captive. It helps these bears learn how to climb, build nests, forage for food and socialise so that they can be returned to the wild.

The Bornean Sun Bear Conservation Centre is a wildlife conservation and research centre for improving animal welfare and rehabilitation of the Malayan sun bear (Helarctos malayanus). It also aims to raise public awareness about the plight of the sun bears and to raise conservation awareness about this species.

Opened since 2014, we offer visitors the chance to see rescued ex-pet sun bears on their road to rehabilitation, as well as local flora and fauna such as orangutans, macaques, squirrels, and diverse tropical tree species.

The Bornean Sun Bear Conservation Centre (BSBCC) was founded in Sabah, Malaysia in 2008 as a two-stage effort to provide the care, rehabilitation and release of orphaned and captive sun bears, as well as address the lack of knowledge and awareness of this little-known bear both in Malaysia and internationally.

I highly recommend to visit the Bornean Sun Bear Conservation centre. It is not so big and can be easily combined with Orang Utan Rehabilitation Centre (both can be done in 1/2 day if you e.g. start around 09h). Very good opportunity to learn about this cute bear and to watch it.

The mission of the BSBCC is to conserve the sun bear in Malaysia through holistic and pragmatic approaches that incorporate animal welfare, education, research, rehabilitation, ecotourism, community conservation, anti-poaching, and reducing human-bear conflicts.
