Brechin Castle is a castle in Brechin, Angus, Scotland. The castle was constructed in stone during the 13th century. Most of the current building dates to the early 18th century, when extensive reconstruction was carried out by architect Alexander Edward for James Maule, 4th Earl of Panmure, between approximately 1696 and 1709. [1] .

Brechin Castle is only open to the public for a short period so a visit was arranged. Heather our guide was marvellous. She brought the exhibits to life and was so very knowledgeable. The added bonus was we were able to meet Lord Dalhousie who lives in the castle. This was a spectacular venue and if only it were open longer would see many visitors.
