The CHP Academy will consist of an intense 26-week schedule that will train and educate cadets for a career in law enforcement. The final reward comes at graduation where cadets are promoted to the rank of officer.

We are the store, "PX" (Post Exchange) or "Recreation Fund", on the California Highway Patrol Academy campus in West Sacramento, providing goods to cadets and all CHP employees. Our non-profit organization has provided equipment, gifts, and apparel to CHP personnel since 1959.

Upon graduation from the CHP Academy cadets are promoted to the rank of Officer. The following monthly pay incentives will be effective upon appointment to Officer: 6.25% Eight, Nine, Ten, Twelve and one-half hour workday pay: $577.69

The 26-week CHP Academy is revered worldwide. All CHP cadets go through the same elite training that takes place at the West Sacramento campus.

An academy invitation is an official offer of employment to be hired as a cadet. Once accepted, you will await and report to the academy for training and begin your first steps in the exciting yet challenging journey of becoming a CHP Officer.

The CHP Museum is open to the general public by prior appointment. While the museum doors are always open, it is housed at the CHP Academy, where access is restricted due to ongoing training of CHP Officers and cadets.
