
Is dealership ceramic coating on new cars a gimmick?
2022年8月21日 · I purchased a new car this month and it came with ceramic coating protection. I have paperwork from the ceramic coating company and dealership stating that the protection was applied at X miles on a specific date. Fast forward a few weeks, I went to a local auto detailing business to get paint protection film applied on my car.
Can someone explain ceramic coating to me like I’m 5yrs old?

Ceramic Coating destroy the value of historical automobiles since the paint is a historical document and by applying a ceramic coating you are permanently altering the painted surface.

2021年5月9日 · Ahahah this me - tl;dr: 10+ hours of research, 1 weeks of waiting for various products, 2 days of active work uh way more than 5 hour per day. I actually detailed two cars bc I ended up doing the civic first to practice and then the real car. But as ppl say the actual ceramic coating part only takes a couple hours.

A car wash near me offers as an upgrade and "the works" package is around $40. Just bought a new car for the first time and want to keep it nice. It's just an average suv, nothing fancy so not worth spending hundreds on this.

The coating itself only adds a bit more gloss and depth. When you go through a tunnel wash, the swirls accumulate and the paint dulls.

Yes they do dude. You act like a bottle of a ceramic coating doesn’t have any besides “ceramic” in them when they have bonding agents, UV blockers, etc Also, polishing brand new paint adds gloss on its own, you are spreading misinformation all around. A brand new car benefits from polishing to add gloss and further shine the surface.

Like most things, a ceramic coating is not always base on logic and/ or economics. If you love your car and/ or love that clean look then it won’t matter. I have a black car that has a ceramic coating & full PPF, I can’t imagine not having them on my car. But Im the type of person that gets annoyed when I see dust on cars.
