2006年9月15日 · Given how dependant primates are on depth perception, it would be a disadvantage to have to independantly control both eyes to maintain depth perception and focus on an object. Going “cross-eyed” is just an extreme case of focusing on a very near point. By the way, I’m not sure where “inertia” enters into the problem.
