Curieuse Island is a small granitic island 1.13 sq mi (2.9 km 2) in the Seychelles close to the north coast of the island of Praslin. Curieuse is notable for its bare red earth intermingled with the unique coco de mer palms, one of the cultural icons of the Seychelles, only growing on the two neighboring islands.

Curieuse is the fifth-largest of the Inner Seychelles islands, and offers unspoilt wilderness and popular photo opportunities for guests, from the outstanding granite rock beaches and the quaint, freely-roaming giant tortoises to the Coco de Mer palm trees and the unspoilt mangrove forests.

It’s lovely to see the giant turtles in their environment. It is not an island to spend a full day on, but perfect for an hour-two stop. There are no toilets or amenities although there were some buildings but not for tourists. Bring your own water and food and, of course, take your garbage back with you. Beautiful island.
