A Capsule History of the Village of Lindenhurst. The Village of Lindenhurst traces its beginning back to the Indians, when Secatogue and Massapequa tribes roamed the “Lindenhurst” woods in search of food. The area was then called Neguntatogue, which means, “forsaken land.”
