2007年10月24日 · I really like that "Aniron" font and I think I might steal it. So I think I got all of mine at www.fontfreak.com because they have a large selection of both Mac and PC fonts available. BtW: Does anybody know of a dingbat font for map icons? Like a font that has castles, towers, cities, boats, sea monster, compass rose, etc, etc...

I've always just used regular old Arial font, but was wondering what kinds of fonts you guys use. I'm looking for some stylistic ones that are easy to read but look good. 2011年1月27日 · Some fonts look better/more legible at particular sizes (letter spacing might become an issue if a font is too big or small), so if the map is for print, make sure you have a font that works at the size it will be printed. If the font is for web, the issue becomes more difficult because the reader can 'zoom in' and out.

2017年5月10日 · Not inherent in the font, but map labels generally benefit from a wider letter spacing than regular text. "Modern" fonts seem to work well. (they actually look a bit old now as our taste in typefaces has gone back the other way since they were called "modern") Light weights also tend to be better than heavy ones.

2010年1月16日 · Do what I'd do in your situation. Find all the maps with this particular font you desire. Scan all the labels. I'd use a vector app like Illustrator, Inkscape or in my case Xara Xtreme and rescale all the font letters so that they are the same size then print it out. Take out a sheet of tracing paper and draw out the labels in the words you want.

2011年8月4日 · A sans-serif font like Arial, IMHO, is a poor choice for most maps, simply because 'sans-serif' is more difficult to read (on a map) than any serif font. (Serifs being the little tails and end-objects at the ends of the letters.

2008年12月8日 · My favorite free font site is acidfonts.com They have hundreds of fonts (with new fonts added all the time), ding-bats some complete, though many not complete character sets. They have some great heraldric beast fonts, variety of Celtic and even one cool Anglo-Saxon font (called Anglo-Saxon)
Create Old School Hex Maps using Azgaar's and QGIS
2020年9月21日 · There are some obvious problems with the map however, owing the the way Azgaar's generates random maps. Azgaar's uses random points and a Voronoi partition in order to partition the map into cells which it assigns the biomes and all other information. This creates unnatural sharp edges between the biomes as can be clearly seen with the coast line.
