A Pathologists’ Assistant (PA) is a highly trained, allied health professional who provides various services under the direction and supervision of a pathologist.

There is only one route to become a Pathologists’ Assistant. You must attend and graduate from a NAACLS accredited program and pass the ASCP certification exam.

A Pathologists’ Assistant is a highly trained, certified allied healthcare professional who is qualified by academic and practical training to provide various services in anatomic pathology under the direction and supervision of a licensed, Board Certified or Board Eligible Anatomic Pathologist.

The two year program begins in July. Students: Ten students per class. Degree: Master of Science in Pathology. Cost: Tuition is $20,081 (Maryland resident) and $36,003 (nonresident) plus fees for the two-year program.

Two year program beginning in January and ending in December. Students: 9-12 students per class. Degree: Master of Science in Anatomic Pathology. Cost: Tuition is $40,000 per year.
