Sauron takes different appearances at different times throughout the ages. To Celebrimbor (the ring maker), Sauron takes the appearance and identity of Annatar (an Elf of similar heritage to Celebrimbor).

But Sauron had better fortune with the Noldor of Eregion and especially with Celebrimbor, who desired in his heart to rival the skill and fame of Fëanor. 2015年1月22日 · Celebrimbor gradually recalls how Sauron, disguised as Annatar, the Lord of Gifts, deceived him into forging the Rings of Power. Celebrimbor ultimately assisted Sauron in forging the One Ring, but was able to steal it from him. Celebrimbor proclaimed himself the Bright Lord of Mordor and raised an army of Orcs against Sauron.

2013年7月2日 · So it seems that at most, Isildur finished Sauron off, and whatever wound he inflicted in taking off the Ring killed Sauron. At the least, Isildur cut the Ring off Sauron's corpse.
