Hot Rods Single-axle race car trailers... pros, cons? - The Jalopy …
2015年8月5日 · Well our camper is single axle and it no doubt outweighs your car. From my seat of the pants unscientific experience a single axle trailer does not feel as stable are a tandem axle trailer and they are less forgiving when it comes to weight bias then a tandem. They also seem to react better to an equalizer hitch then a tandem axle trailer.

2004年4月30日 · Double axle or single axle - if you have a real blow out with a loaded trailer you'll be screwed either way. When I picked up my F2 I had a blowout at 60mph. I did a 270 one direction, then 180 the other before I got it under control. Scared me pretty bad - my truck was only three weeks old and I was fairly sure I was gonna put it on it's roof.

2011年6月21日 · I have a single axle/no suspension trailer that my dad build in the late 60's. The frame uses '55 Chevy pickup truck frame rails. I am freshening it up to pull my Legends car and ATV to the races. It is the best pulling, riding trailer I have ever used. I have no plans to add springs. Blow outs are not a problem either.

2020年7月20日 · A car as light as a T would only require a single axle and if built with these runners would not require more that 2x2" heavy wall tubing. As with any trailer/tow vehicle, half the battle is axle placement and tongue weight, meaning where the vehicle is placed on the trailer.

2010年3月19日 · The car suspension is NOT trailer suspension! Plus, if the axle is mounted solid to the frame, that creates a single stress point for the trailer that will fracture, eventually. Building a trailer without a spring or torsion suspension is the wrong way to build a trailer. A torsion axle gives you suspension AND makes your trailer low to the ground.

2009年5月21日 · Go with a quality tandem-axle unit with brakes on at least the rear axle (some states require brakes on both axles - check your State laws), a brake-away kit (trailer stops itself if it comes off the hitch!), safety chains, lights, and a HD coupler (2" min for a 7,000# GVW trailer, 2-5/16" for a 7,001#> trailer).
How to tie down a car on a trailer - The Jalopy Journal
2007年10月28日 · I use a 3/8" chain either around the front axle a couple times or through the lower a-arms and down to the trailer. Then TWO axle straps and TWO HEAVY-DUTY ratchets off the rear axle. Always depends on the car but I much prefer the car to "float" as it takes the bounce out of everything. If you tie to the frame, the car fights against itself.

2013年8月26日 · I sold my old single axle trailer that I’ve hauled with my Ranchero for the last 15 years. I bought this tilting single axle a friend of mine Mike Bjorklund built from scratch. I’ve always wanted one of his trailers…. I got this specifically to haul the roadster behind the Ranchero.
