Tapei Taoyuan Airport Terminal 1 used to be the main passenger terminal until the opening of Terminal 2 in 1979. Terminal is formed by two concourses. Both concourses are linked by the main terminal building, which hosts the check-in counters, baggage claim, immigration and security checkpoint.

Taipei Taoyuan Airport Terminal 2 opened in 2000 in order to reduce the existing congestion in Terminal 1. Like Terminal 1, Terminal 2 has a couple of concourses: South Concourse (Concourse C) and North Concourse (Concourse D).
