Tokugawa Yoshimune was the eighth shogun of the Tokugawa clan, being born on the 27 November 1684 to Tokugawa Mitsusada and Joenin. Yoshimune was declared shogun in 1716, following the death of his predecessor, Tokugawa Ietsugu.
