Built in 1845, Crumlin Road Gaol played witness to a fraught period of Irish history. In its 150 years, children from impoverished families, political prisoners and suffragettes were among those incarcerated within its walls.

The Crumlin Road Gaol dates back to 1845 and closed its doors as a working prison in 1996. After extensive renovations the gaol has re opened as a visitor attraction and conference centre.

Crumlin Road Gaol is a former prison situated in North Belfast, Northern Ireland. Designed by Sir Charles Lanyon, the Gaol was built between 1843 and 1845 it is the only Victorian era prison remaining in Northern Ireland and was one of the most advanced prisons of its day.
