PTCG effectively punishes you for wanting to evolve, Digimon rewards you. Pokémon TCG should definitely take notes. The memory mechanic i think is the most interesting part though. Wholly agreed! The memory gauge is a fantastic mechanic and while it's not unique to the Digimon Card Game, it's a very good mechanic that was implemented well in it.

Things are only "Digimon" when they're in the battle or breeding area. An effect will usually specify that it's targeting digimon, or digimon cards (which include things in your hand/trash). I think the only thing in the game where you can choose both a Digimon card or a Digimon instance is DigiXros, but I'm not 100% on that.

2021年3月1日 · [On Play] triggers when you play a card for its play cost from your hand into the battle area or when an effect tells you to play a Digimon. It does not trigger in the Breeding Area as no effects trigger in or on the breeding area, nor count it towards their effects. Also you can never Play a Digimon into the Breeding Area anyway.

On Play effects only trigger when you play the card as a brand new Digimon, usually by paying the higher cost in the upper left corner of the card. You never activate on play effects when you digivolve, since you arent playing a new digimon, youre just digivolving an old one.
