The beach plum, or Prunus maritima, is a deciduous shrub that is indigenous to the eastern United States. In early spring, spectacular blooms of white tiny flowers emerge attracting small pollinators. The white flowers will develop a pinkish hue upon successful pollination and will produce blueish to purple fruit in the late summer or early fall. The fruit produced is small, round and about the size of a cherry. It is tart and commonly used for jams, jellies and preserves. 🤩 #beachplum #prunusm
