Swimming into your feed to shout HAPPY WORLD SEA LION DAY! There are six species of sea lion, and the ASLC is home to a very special one: the Steller sea lion. Because of widespread population declines in Alaska, Steller sea lions were first listed under the Endangered Species Act in 1990. In 1997, NOAA Fisheries recognized two distinct population segments and listed the western population as endangered.
