Unfortunately, it looks like we have an outbreak of squirrelpox in the yard 😨 So far, there are at least 2 cases. The first 2 segments of this clip are of an unnamed male who is showing some lesions around his eyes. The right eye is much worse and is almost swollen shut, but I couldn't get a good shot of it on camera. The last segment (which I slowed down a little) is an unnamed female less than a year old. She is just starting to develop some lesions around her eyes, and one on her left pinky.

An update on the Squirrelpox situation: There appear to be 3 cases now, but this guy is affected the worst. His eyes are swollen and scabby, and in the very last clip, you can see some sores on his back left ankle. This will most likely get worse before it gets better, but so far, all affected squirrels seem to be doing ok and coming to eat daily. The 3 affected squirrels seem to have some similar characteristics, and I'm wondering if maybe it's 3 siblings sharing a nest 🤔 Cornell's Wildlife Ho
