The scariest tornadoes are the ones after dark. I’ve seen hundreds of tornadoes over the years and the ones I’m always most scared of are the twisters after dark. A lot of tornadoes happen after dark and the scientific explanation is that a belt of low-level winds off of the surface increase in intensity at and after dark. This low-level jet stream forms due to strengthening gradients of tenperatures from the cooler higher elevations in the west to the warmer lower elevations in the east. #scien
