The ancient Egyptian language has no word for “Queen”. The title of King or Pharaoh was THE SAME as a man or a woman. Although women have, and continue to fight for equal standing, respect and value in society, I am moved by the idea that one day women may find equal standing in the world, regardless of position or title. Queen of the Nile is my new Foundation Paper Piecing Pattern based on the famous bust of Queen Nefertiti by the ancient sculptor Thutmose, which is now in Berlin’s Neues Museum
